Summer Styled Shoot

Back in early January, I was thinking of ways to dip my feet into the photography world. It's a pretty big wide deep pool. I was throwing around the idea of participating in a styled shoot that already was up and running while I came by to take pictures. I thought it was that simple. Let's all take a moment and laugh at my naivety. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I posted in a group about wanting to participate in a styled shoot and I found myself suddenly the head behind a shoot I had no idea how to do. Dipping my toes into the pool? More like fell in, head first. Luckily for me, I met an amazing wedding and event planner, Jayme of Hazel Weddings and Events, to help design the whole shoot with me! It was confusing, it was a lot of hard work and sweat and going through Plans A-Z to make this shoot a success!

We coordinated it all, from the gown to the venue, to the decor to the tiny little details we couldn't possibly overlook.
Honestly, Jayme was the biggest help in it all and I couldn't have made it even halfway without her. Dear newbie photographer, find yourself a planner to team up with for your very first styled shoot. I promise, you will never regret it. And if planning a styled shoot was a lot of juggling, I give huge props to all of you wedding planners out there!
We had a couple bumps and hiccups but everything came together like an absolute dream! We imagined shades of green and blush and gold. Gorgeous floral accents with soft ribbon. An amazing invitation suite to die for. All the hard work came together and imagination became reality. Everyone worked so hard and an incredible group of vendors came together for this.

Now we can celebrate with our shoot being published on Virginia Bride Magazine's blog! It was the best feeling seeing something you worked so hard on, in front of readers all over Virginia!
